Prof. Temitope Jegede

Prof. Temitope JEGEDE joined the services of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria as Lecturer II in February, 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (B. Agric. Tech.), Master of Agricultural Technology (M. Agric. Tech.) and Ph.D in Aquaculture from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.

He became a Professor in the year 2017.

His international experiences include various programs, contributions and participation in seminars, workshops and conferences within and outside Nigeria, namely, The Seventh International Symposium on Tilapia in Aquaculture: ISTA 7. Boca del Rίo, Veracruz, Mexico, Eight International Symposium on Tilapia in Aquaculture: ISTA 8. Cairo, Egypt, Nineth International Symposium on Tilapia in Aquaculture: ISTA 9.Shanghai, China, Tenth International Symposium on Tilapiain Aquaculture ISTA 10. Jerusalem, Israel, he has also attended conferences in South Africa, Benin Republic, UK, United States to mention but a few. His research interest as a Professor is reflected in his wide range of publications (Aquaculture, Eco-toxicology, Water Chemistry, Nutrition and the Use of some ethnobotanicals in aquaculture) in various national and international journals.

Prof. Jegede is a highly prolific and result-oriented researcher and has excelled in numerous studies in aquaculture of different species of Tilapia and Catfish. He is examiner to some Universities in Nigeria and has supervised over Twenty-five (25) undergraduate students and four (4) postgraduate students.

He is Editorial Board member to many national and international journals and he is also a member of various professional associations, namely, Asian Fisheries Society, World Aquaculture Society (West Africa Chapter), Fisheries Society of Nigeria and Hypography Science Forums, USA, to mention a few. He was grantee of Science and Technology Education Post-Basic (Step B) Project. Innovators of Tomorrow Research and Technology Development Grant.(World Bank Grant) for his Master Degree program.

Prof. ‘Tope Jegede has served the University in various capacities; He was Sub-Dean, College of Postgraduate Studies, 2012-2013; Head of Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, 2013-2015 also Member and Chairman to so many Departmental and University committees.

Until his appointment, he was on the Board of the College of Postgraduate Studies of the University and at present he is the Ag. Director, Office of Research and Development, the position he is holding to date.

Prof. Temitope Jegede is married to Dr. Oluwatosin Helen Tope-Jegede and the marriage is blessed with a son.
